An Israeli ambulance driver who was trapped inside an emergency room when a terrorist detonated an explosive device in the building is among those who were evacuated safely.
The ambulance driver, who was working in the emergency room of the Jerusalem Hospital, was among those evacuated after the blast, which took place in the Radisson Blu hotel and bar on Monday night.
He is among the people who were able to enter the emergency rooms, according to the statement by the Israel Defense Forces.
The blast occurred in the lobby of the Radiator Hotel, which is located near the Radiance Hotel.
The hospital said the blast took place after an attack in which a suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowded market.
No injuries were reported from the explosion.
The bombing took place at around midnight, the hospital said.
No further details were immediately available.
The building is situated in the centre of the center of Jerusalem, adjacent to the Egged-Ava shopping center and adjacent to several other major sites, including the Old City.
The center of the city is home to the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
